Why I choose to study this career

  Hi everyone! Today I will tell you why I decided to study my career. When I was a child I dreamed to be a doctor or something related with science, because my father is biochemist and in my childhood I accompanied my dad to his laboratory, that place is like a magic world for a child because everything is strange and new. My toys were mainly Barbies and babies, but I had doctor sets too, and I liked to watch "Erase una vez el hombre" and "Erase una vez la vida" specially the chapter about pregnancy. I really like to know how things work, I was a very curious girl. 

In the adolescence I had a very good biology and chemistry teacher, she inspired me and reaffirm my love to the science. In that time I do theatre and folklore dance in my school and started to watch a lot of series about crimes and the mystery attracted me, with so many things that I like and I was good at I started to doubt about my future. So my options were theatre, medicine, forensic medicine and obstetrics. But medicine was no more an option in Chile around 11th grade because I didn't have the grades to study that.

When the moment to do the PSU (university selection test) was nearby, I decided to have a sabbatic year, but the universe didn't want that. I did the PSU in 2019 the year of "estallido social" in Chile and because of that I did the tests 3 times in different places, and it was awful… The results came when I was in the beach with my family, and we began to check what options I had in base of my score. My options were to be a nurse, biology and chemistry teacher and midwife. And finally I entered to pedagogy in biology and chemistry in the Universidad de Chile and I do not regret my decision c:

My experience in the university has been full of turbulence. In the first year I was in pandemic and that affect my mental health, thats why I failed molecular biology and that affected my self-esteem. The next year I failed organic chemistry and that was the breaking point for me and I realized that I needed help and before that everything run up on wheels.

For my future, I dream to have a job in a school that allows me to innovate and to take care of the needs of children more than strict academic schools. With the time I would like to be director or to be part of the education minister.

     Hi everyone!! I'm Shalom from "the common life of science student". I was born on December 27th 2001 in a public hospital of Santiago, Chile. My mom was in labor for 3 days so I supose I didn't want to come to the world -ooppss-       In my childhood I constantly moved so I went to nine different schools.  In the last of them I stayed for six years, in that school I discovered my passion for biology, series, folklore dance and acting. In my last four years of "enseñanza media" I thought I will study something associated to medicine but the destiny don't want that. My Favorite Piece of Technology

 Hi everyone! Shalom again. Today we're going to talk about technology, specifically my favorite pieces of technology, my iPad and my cellphone. It is difficult for me to choose one of them because I use both equally.  I use my iPad for so many things, I study and take notes in class, and in my free time, I watch a lot of series with it. On the other hand, I use my cellphone for watching series too, but I also use it to check Instagram and WhatsApp groups, take photos of nature, my pets or beautiful things like the sky in the sunset, and in the metro or micro, I generally use Spotify to listen to a playlist depending on the mood or a podcast called "weona que creici", I love those guys! They make my boring activities more fun. I think I'm very dependent on my cellphone and my iPad because I have my entire life on them and I use them all the time. A Photograph I Like

  Hi everyone!! It's me again. Today I want to talk about one of my favorite photos of this year <3. This photo was taken by my best friend Valentina on March 8, 2023, during the march of Women's Day. I love this photo because when I see it again, I feel the euphoria that I felt that day. It was my first march in commemoration of Women's Day. It was a very beautiful and emotional day because, for the first time in my life, I felt secure and free around so many people. Usually, when I'm around a lot of people, like on the subway, I think of all possible scenarios in which something bad could happen to me, or I see all faces and the behavior of the people around me, those thoughts invade my head because I have anxiety, so to be in a place was I wasn't invaded by those thoughts was really wonderful and comforting.  In this photograph, you can see my friend Camila and me during the march when it began to get dark.
